Competition rules

Terms of entry to the festival competition, the assessment criteria and how the international jury works.

Who can take part

Performers and ensembles of traditional and ethnic music from any country are invited to apply. There is no age limit, and both soloists and ensembles of up to 15 people are accepted.

One ensemble submits one application. A repeat submission with the same materials is not reviewed.

How selection works

  1. Applications are open until May of the festival year.
  2. The selection committee reviews submissions on a rolling basis and draws up a shortlist.
  3. Selected participants receive an official invitation and visa support.

Assessment criteria

  • authenticity of the repertoire and its link to a living tradition;
  • musicianship and ensemble craft;
  • artistic coherence of the programme;
  • stage presence.

Awards

The international jury awards the festival Grand Prix and special prizes across categories. The jury's decision is final.
